The original home of the University of Kansas City (now UMKC), Volker Campus is named after William Volker, a wealthy businessman and philanthropist who donated a mansion (now Scofield Hall) and 40 acres of land to the University of Kansas City.
Located just south of the Country Club Plaza, Volker Campus is home to Swinney Recreation Center, Durwood Stadium, the Student Union, Atterbury Student Success Center, two residence halls and other student resources.
More information about Volker Campus:
Our Health Sciences Campus includes the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Nursing and Health Studies, which are located in an area known as Hospital Hill. This UMKC Campus formed a partnership with area institutions like Truman Medical Centers, Children’s Mercy and the Kansas City, Missouri Health Department to form the UMKC Health Sciences District, a collaboration of university and public entities to address health issues in our region.
This partnership and proximity to other health-care organizations makes our students uniquely positioned to get some of the best jobs and internships Kansas City has to offer.
